Most luxury homes are designed for the eye: the marble, the glass, the address. A Wellness Home is designed for the body that lives in it. It is a residence built or renovated with hygiene science at its core, so the air your family breathes is as considered as the finishes they see.
Cleanaholics plans and delivers this as one accountable engagement: moisture-safe detailing so damp and mould never take hold, Safe Door® anti-mould cabinetry, anti-microbial surface treatment on high-touch zones, and indoor air quality measured and verified against the DOSH ICOP IAQ 2010 national standard before handover. You receive a written record of what was built and what the instruments confirmed.
For principal residences, penthouses and full renovations across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. By private brief.
An interior designer is briefed on how a home should look and feel. A hygiene scientist is briefed on how it will behave, biologically and chemically, for the next twenty years. Bring the wrong one in first and the other is decorating over a problem, not preventing one.
Where a wardrobe sits flush against an external wall, where a chilled AC duct runs behind a feature wall, where a bathroom's waterproofing membrane terminates: these are decided at the planning table, before a single wall is built. A hygiene scientist maps the building's thermal and moisture behaviour first, so the designer is never asked to hide a condensation point behind a beautiful panel. Fix the sequence after handover and you are cutting into finished marble to chase a leak.
Engineered wood, plywood carcasses, laminate, adhesives and many paints off-gas formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds as they cure, some for years. An interior designer selects these materials for grain, colour and finish. A hygiene scientist screens them for emission class and specifies photocatalytic or low-VOC alternatives where it matters most: the bedroom, the nursery, the study. Both concerns are legitimate. Only one of them is trained to hold the other in check.
Gypsum board paper facing, untreated MDF and raw plaster are, chemically, food for mould once damp. Sealed concrete, treated timber, glass and properly glazed tile are not. This single distinction decides whether a future leak becomes a wiped-down inconvenience or a wall that has to be opened up. It belongs in the material specification stage, standard by standard, not discovered after the client moves in.
Safe Door® anti-mould cabinetry and anti-microbial surface treatment are dramatically more effective, and less visible, when specified into the joinery and finishing schedule than when retrofitted around furniture that already exists. Planned in with the designer's cabinetry drawings, they disappear into the design. Added afterward, they are a compromise everyone can see.
Where supply and return air move, how many air changes per hour a closed room receives, whether a walk-in wardrobe or a home theatre has any fresh air path at all: these are mechanical decisions that determine indoor humidity and VOC dilution for the life of the home. They are made at MEP and layout stage, in the same conversations as ceiling heights and lighting plans, not after the furniture arrives.
A design handover ends with a walkthrough and a punch list. A hygiene science handover ends with instrument readings: formaldehyde, total VOC, particulates and humidity, measured against the DOSH ICOP IAQ 2010 national standard, in writing. One confirms the home looks finished. The other confirms it is safe to breathe in. A genuinely well-built luxury home should be able to produce both documents.
None of this replaces an interior designer, and Cleanaholics does not do their job. It means the hygiene science engagement starts at the planning table, alongside the architect and designer, not after the paint has dried and a smell has appeared. That is the actual difference between a beautiful home and a Wellness Home.
